Easter 2023: Celebrate by Baking These Traditional Easter Recipes
For many, an ideal Easter holiday might entail consuming chocolate, catching up with family and friends, and undertaking the obligatory Easter egg hunt with the kids. However, you could take your Easter holiday to the next level by baking some delicious treats that offer a compelling contrast to chocolate.
We appointed our lovely Design and Customer Experience Consultant (and designated in-house cake baker) Anna McMillan to whip up some traditional Easter recipes with her own creative spin for Easter day.
Carrot and Walnut Layer Cake With Cream Cheese Frosting
“Perhaps a theory of my own, but I do associate carrots with Easter, so I felt it was appropriate to whip up a fancy, layered version of a carrot and walnut cake,” says Anna.
“This recipe is time-honoured for me as baking began as soon as I was old enough to stand up on a chair to ‘supervise’ my mum in the kitchen.”
Anna says she has perfected this recipe over many years, and it always seems to be a winner with everybody, therefore, she felt it necessary to top her cake with a chocolate nest of mini eggs.
Fruit Hot Cross Buns
Few could argue with the appeal of the classic hot cross bun. Anna says they are a childhood favourite treat, and they are probably the reason for Easter being her favourite holiday season of the year. She has an intriguing personal take on this time-honoured Easter treat.
“I decided to combine this traditional recipe with my other love of tea, by infusing the fruit with Earl Grey. And you can’t beat serving these buns toasted with a generous portion of cultured butter.”
