We have transitioned our brass products to lead free brass, in line with New Zealand Building Code Acceptable Solution G12/AS1, which has required lead free plumbing products for building consent applications lodged from 2 May 2026.

Lead Free Tapware FAQs
Why is lead free tapware now required?
Lead can leach into drinking water from older plumbing fittings, and health authorities consider no level of lead exposure safe. New Zealand’s Building Code Clause G12 now limits lead in copper alloy plumbing products in contact with drinking water to a weighted average of 0.25% or less.
When did the change take effect in New Zealand?
From 2 May 2026, Acceptable Solution G12/AS1 Amendment 14 became the only MBIE acceptable solution for new building consent applications. Consents lodged before then can follow the previous requirements, and plumbing that’s already installed doesn’t need replacing.
Which tapware is affected?
Copper alloy plumbing products in contact with drinking water, including taps, mixers, valves and fittings. Showers, baths, and shower and bath mixers sit outside this provision.
Is all of your tapware lead free?
Yes. Our entire tapware range is now lead free. Our 304 and 316 grade stainless steel tapware is naturally lead free, and our brass tapware is made from newly formulated lead free brass alloys.
How is lead free compliance confirmed?
Our lead free products carry the Lead Free WaterMark, one of the certification marks MBIE accepts as evidence of compliance, backed by initial testing and yearly audits. You can check any product on the WaterMark Product Database.
Do lead free taps have any other benefits?
Yes. Our 316 grade stainless steel tapware also offers strong corrosion resistance.
