Why is lead free tapware becoming mandatory?
The Australian Building Codes Board has reviewed and recognised studies on the long-term health benefits of lead free tapware. The New Zealand Building Code (NZBC) specifies that from 1 September 2025, lead-free tapware will become mandatory at the point of installation in New Zealand.
What particular tapware will be influenced by this change?
The NCC specifies that plumbing products containing copper alloy that come into contact with drinking water must have a lead content of no more than 0.25%.
