Inside Residium Build + Design Day 2026
On Saturday, 7th March 2026, our Auckland Showroom came alive as part of Residium Build + Design Day, presented in collaboration with Auckland Design Week.
Throughout the day, guests moved through a curated program of immersive activations that celebrated the rituals of homemaking, from scent and materiality to the lived realities of renovation and design.
The day was a reflection of what we value most at ABI Interiors: thoughtful craftsmanship, meaningful connection, and the quiet details that shape how a space feels.
One of the most memorable experiences of the day was our Scent of Home Workshop, hosted in collaboration with SOK Studios. Guided through a curated selection of fragrance notes, guests created their own custom scent, a personal interpretation of what home feels like to them.
With more than 100 prizes to be won, ABI’s Lucky Dip brought an element of delight to the showroom floor. From indulgent hand creams by Ashley & Co and custom ABI Incense holders to the standout prize — a $1,000 ABI Interiors gift voucher — every draw was a winner.
At the heart of our showroom experience was Meet the Creators, an opportunity to step beyond finished imagery and hear directly from the designers and builders behind three remarkable projects.
Interior designer and television host Alex Walls of Walls Studio shared the story behind The Whananaki Beach Retreat, a luxurious yet authentic Kiwi bach inspired by Northland’s raw coastal landscape. Alex spoke candidly about translating coastal inspiration into enduring design decisions and how carefully selected fixtures and finishes play a crucial role in achieving both beauty and longevity.
Jeyan Chamanmah of Arc Tiny Homes offered insight into the Auckland Showhome, a 30sqm architectural dwelling that redefines compact living. He spoke to the importance of hospitality-grade detailing within boutique guest accommodation and how carefully specified fixtures contribute to calm, functional interiors that feel considered at every touchpoint.
Finally, award-winning designer Katie Scott of Sticks + Stones Design shared the transformation of a dated early-2000s townhouse in Herne Bay. Her reflections reinforced a recurring theme of the day: that exceptional design is as much about resolving spatial challenges as it is about aesthetics.
Residium Build + Design Day 2026 was a meaningful celebration of craft, collaboration, and possibility. We’re proud to have played a key role once again in bringing the design community together, and we look forward to continuing the conversation at our Auckland Showroom.
