One of the most iconic features of the NSW’s Northern Rivers region is its coastline, and the town of Cabarita Beach is the shining image of why visitors and locals love the area. Genially referred to as “Caba”, the popular surf spot ushers in anyone with a warm welcome. This celebration of sunshine and calm is felt in the local interior design, with contemporary coastal becoming a preferred choice for the seaside town.
If you’re visiting the area, Pipis at Cabarita is a twin-villa haven for you to experience luxury comfort in a resort-style home. It's inspired by the pipi shell — a mollusc commonly found on Australian and New Zealand shores. For many, it carries the nostalgia of collecting them along the beach as a child, affectionately observing their pink and white tones over two conjoined shells.
The physical dimensions and emotional significance of pipis inform the accommodation’s personality, with light and warm furnishings embraced across the symmetrical properties.
We take a look at the fresh and enthusiastic getaway, noting their pairings with our brushed brass collection throughout.
The exterior of both displays a vertical theme on the single-floor dwellings, with the perimeter lined by a charming white picket fence and timber battens on the siding. It’s clear already that there’s a particular focus on being manicured but not to the point of restriction. Just enough curation to make room for light and relaxation.
Upon entering, the contemporary coastal theme is solidified. Big windows spotlight the kitchen, glowing in its timber traits, with fluting distinguishing the island benchtop — also mimicking the pipi shape.
It’s the first appearance of brushed brass fixtures, namely, the Elysian Kitchen Mixer, which introduces a gold accent into both dwellings. This finish choice is extremely fitting in contemporary coastal spaces, as the style is about finding crisp and clean ways to express the immense joy relating to seaside living — and brass fixtures counteract the coolness of metallic with their sunny exterior.
The matching designs find a cohesive point of divergence in their respective patio areas, with certain motifs carried through. Curved pebbled plots for trees showcase greenery best, while a pitched skylight in Villa 2 uniquely blends indoor/outdoor ideas.
Heading back inside through the common areas, the warm neutrals found in the furnishings highlight the calmness of contemporary coastal design. It’s an area that gives a moment for breath letting the filtered glow of the day permeate the senses and inferring the desired pace: slow.
In the bathroom, a strong Mediterranean influence advocates for a resort-style home. As you can see below, each villa’s bathroom is almost identical — encouraging any guest to delight in the travertine and brass finishes. It’s the only location at our Pipis where our Celine Basin Sinks live, their matte finish complementing the organic textures in the space.
A pop of colour finds its way into the bedrooms, suiting the fun craftsmanship of the bunk beds. It’s an excellent use of space, creating an added sleeping platform fit for families on vacation. The earthy palette covers the space in a grounding ambience — a soothing solace after a day in the sun.
Pipis at Cabarita captures the essence of contemporary coastal design by reflecting the best sides of its location. It manifests sunshine, relaxation, and joy indoors and generously shares that with the lucky guests who get to stay.
