Inside Rocabella: Design in Detail with ABI Interiors & GRAYA

On Tuesday, 28th April, ABI Interiors partnered with GRAYA to host Design in Detail, an intimate afternoon that welcomed guests inside Rocabella, a striking new residential address on the Gold Coast’s iconic Hedges Avenue. 

Bringing together over 60 industry thought leaders — from architects and designers to media and collaborators — the event reflects the foundation of Design in Detail as a knowledge-sharing experience, inviting guests to go beyond the finished façade and into the thinking behind the home. By comparing the original vision of a project with the realised space, it offers a rare level of transparency, experienced from within.

Set across five levels, Rocabella comprises two exclusive villas, Roca and Bella, each thoughtfully designed to balance architectural presence with refined coastal living. As guests moved through the home, moments of detail revealed themselves gradually: from the way natural light moves through the space to the layered interplay of timber, brick, and stone, all anchored by ABI Interiors’ newly released Antique Bronze tapware and fixtures.

At the centre of the afternoon was a live panel discussion hosted by ABI Brand Ambassador Shelley Craft, joined by Sukai Farrell, Co-Founder of ABI Interiors, Rob Gray, Founder of GRAYA, and Rory Spence, Co-Founder of Studio Workshop. In conversation, they unpacked the decisions that shaped Rocabella, offering insight into the journey from site acquisition through to handover. 

The experience extended beyond design into a thoughtfully curated hospitality offering. Guests enjoyed artfully prepared canapés by acclaimed chef Ayato Watanabe, whose seafood-focused menu balanced precision with simplicity, alongside signature cocktails served throughout the day. As a parting gesture, each guest received a bespoke goodie bag featuring inclusions from Grown Alchemist, Antipodes, and samples from our Antique Collection, a quiet continuation of the event’s material story.

Rocabella marks another chapter in the ongoing collaboration between ABI Interiors and GRAYA, following Gold Coast projects including Dune, Chalk, and Kloud. Built on a shared commitment to quality, innovation, and considered design, the partnership continues to evolve through projects that push the boundaries of residential living. 

Inspired by European architectural influences, Rocabella harnesses its coastal topology to embrace natural light, organic materials, and a seamless connection between indoors and out, resulting in two exceptional homes that epitomise luxury coastal living on the Gold Coast.
