3 BEFORE & AFTER HOME TRANSFORMATIONS THAT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND
Nothing beats the sensation you get from looking at a cringe-worthy ‘before’ photo to the stunning ‘after’ shot (even when it’s not yours).
Whether it’s waist-long hair being cut into a bob, a seemingly-impossible stain removal (thank you Vanish Napisan) or, in this case, unbelievable home renovations, examining the old against the new opens our eyes to what is possible.
We are so fortunate to see unbelievable homes go from zero to hero. We say that the journey is the best part and often encourage our customers to relish in the slow but rewarding process towards their dream destination.
As daunting as it may seem, with the right advice, a dedicated vision and a team of professionals who know what they’re doing, your dream can become a reality.
To inspire your upcoming renovation, or spark some hope into your hearts; here are some of our favourite before and after transformations.
THE BEACH FLAT
Just a two-minute walk from the best that the Northern Beaches have to offer, The Beach Flat have renovated the Airbnb of our dreams. The spacious, Coastal retreat is a beautifully designed, minimalist two-bedroom, two-bathroom stay – perfect for a small family get-together or a couples rendezvous. Step out onto the patio, unwind with a drink and bask in the afternoon rays and sea views or even stroll along the coastal path – the opportunities seem endless at The Beach Flat. The Beachflat was the dreaded ‘live-in’ reno! Just under two years ago, Craig and Eden Hill, owners of the Beach Flat were on the hunt for something ‘affordable’ and with the ‘location, location, location’ appeal. “We had all intentions to ‘flip’ this reno project but have now fallen in love with our little Beach Flat in the heart of Kingscliff,” Eden says.
RENO TIP:
“Our biggest reno tip is to get stuck in and don’t be scared to get your hands dirty! You will be so surprised how much money you can save by doing the things yourself (obviously within your skillset and regulations). This allowed us to stay and work within our budget of renovating a property and adding the little luxuries like our beautiful ABI Brushed Copper range throughout our home, along the way!”
THE ISLAND VILLA
Situated waterfront of beautiful Runaway Bay, the Island Villa took a dated and untouched piece of paradise, flipping it into a tropical getaway right at their doorstep. Boasting stunning North-facing views for their light and airy five-bedroom, three-bathroom family house, the Villa was a must-have piece of property that just needed a little bit of love. From the seashells and statement greenery to the softened rattan and coastal colour palette – the Island Villa has taken everything we love about a seaside escape and turned it into their forever home. With just a few more spaces to complete, we look back on the journey that has brought them here today.
RENO TIP:
“Keep it simple. Stick to a neutral palette, don’t follow trends too much, and try and do a lot of work yourselves to save money. Procrastination is your worst enemy,” says Jodie.
LISA ALLEN’S CURRUMBIN WATERS PROJECT
A home doesn’t have to be forever, for it to be good. Lisa Water’s sun-soaked Currumbin Waters project is being developed to a budget, while still bringing to life a beautiful Coastal retreat. The family of four have focussed on minimal cosmetic changes to the previous structure, with a light and bright interior look and white tapware throughout the home. Lisa’s husband, Roy Allen, who is a builder from Custombuilt Builders, did most of the renovations with his apprentices – including building, plastering, tiling & painting. “We tried to design the home on a budget, but I made sure that we included some hero pieces like our tapware, vanity handles, arch mirrors & our custom timber shelves,” says Lisa.
RENO TIP:
“Ride the renovation ride. Know that not everything will always go to plan, but that’s ok; it is all part of the journey and experience. Surround yourself with good, practical and reliable trades who can help come up with solutions or new alternatives,” says Lisa.
