Where responsive design transforms limitation into luxury, Happy Haus reimagines the potential of a narrow site with Grange Haus in Brisbane’s north. Its modern interior design blurs the boundaries between indoors and out, redefining elevated living in a subtropical setting.

Grange Haus is thoughtfully shaped to the orientation of its site, optimising ventilation, natural light, views, and privacy.

Despite its compact footprint, the home feels expansive, celebrating openness and vertical volume. A louvered façade, Australian riverstone cladding, and Brazilian emerald quartzite introduce rich texture and depth, infusing the urban form with a refined, organic aesthetic.

Grange Haus’s street-level entrance is defined by a timber garage door and stone cladding that seamlessly wraps from exterior to interior, while the minimalist white façade above features vertical louvers that provide privacy and introduce a fluted motif throughout the design.

Inside, a rich interplay of earthy tones and texture cultivates warmth, with the open-plan living area blending bronze, mustard, and green accents.

Echoing the home's exterior, Australian riverstone is reimagined as a feature wall, while bifold windows enhance indoor-outdoor flow, drawing in the lush greens of the surrounding gardens.

The kitchen and living areas are separated by a statement staircase, which allows natural light to filter gently into the space.

Australian riverstone features again, with its neutral tones reinterpreted as rock bedding, grounding the room with organic materiality. The addition of potted plants reinforces the home’s biophilic design, creating a seamless visual link to nature.

Natural materials define the kitchen — from the travertine dining table and timber chairs to the Brazilian emerald quartzite benchtops and fluted marble mosaic tiles. These elements offer the first expression of a style that is reflected throughout the home's spaces. 

Warm oak joinery and chevron timber flooring enhance the natural stone's softer tones, while our Elysian Commercial Pull-Out Kitchen Mixer completes the kitchen with its striking brushed brass finish.

Smooth floor-to-ceiling sliding doors dissolve the barrier between indoor and outdoor, enhancing openness and flow on the lower level. 

Outside, the patio is framed by floating overhead planters, showcasing master craftsmanship while balancing sun and shade for optimal subtropical living.

Overhead, a soffit lined with Blackbutt timber shelters the entertaining area, which includes an integrated barbecue, smoker, and bar fridge. Set within custom joinery, these elements are topped with a sage green benchtop that blends with the lush hues of the landscaping. 

Stone pavers guide the way across the lawn to a swimming pool enclosed in a crisp white fluted fence, a sculptural element that reinforces the home’s architectural theme.

Atop the floating staircase sits the primary suite, accompanied by four generous bedrooms, a main bathroom, and a second living area — all thoughtfully arranged within the narrow floorplan of the upper level.

Each bedroom uniquely reflects the home’s key design themes. The overarching palette is thoughtfully varied through subtle shifts in colour and texture, expressed in elements such as headboards, side tables, lighting, and decor. 

The primary suite is a fusion of form and function, designed as a private sanctuary. Two windows flood the room with natural light, one fitted with a cosy window seat, ideal for reading or taking in the neighbourhood’s tranquility. The other looks out to floating planters, inviting lush greenery into the upper level.

The suite flows seamlessly into a walk-in robe, its entry showcasing the beauty of the kitchen's quartzite marble and oak timber combination, bringing this thoughtful colour curation to every corner of the home.

Behind a fluted glass sliding door, the ensuite reveals a layered composition of rich textures and tones, illuminated by a bathroom skylight. Designed for two, the quartzite double vanity features twin Namika Basin Sinks paired with brushed brass tapware. This finish adds depth and warmth, tying in perfectly with the round marble wall sconces.
